a lion wrapped in red sitting at the entrance to some kind of ancient part of the city. most of it is reconstructed but there are old bits of the city walls.

and theres lots and lots of food inside. heres some edible coal.

this is part of the waiting area for people wanting to be seen by a optometrist. several hundred people were waiting here. several more hundred people couldnt get appointments and will have to try again tomorrow.

sichuan opera. we searched for a long time for one that involved live music as having been disappointed with the lack of live accompaniment in lijiang - i was insistent that if we were to see this one, it had to have live music. it was great.
