our home for the week. above is the view out of our window of the rest ofthe house and courtyard which in the afternoon was bathed in sun light.
the walls and ceiling in our room were covered in pine and the windows areshown in this image. the light through these in the morning was lovely.
a quieter road in the town. the paths throughout li jiang are supposedly made of 800 year old stone which is cleaned often by firetruck hoses. on entrance each tourist has to pay 80 yuan (roughly 8 ukp) for the maintenance of the town. there are quite a few water mills around like the one in this image. i'm not sure if they produce electricity/something else or are just for show.
the blue bird bar is on the second floor here. there was a similar bar above us. if you expand the image you can see the silhouette of someone playing guitar in the top left room. only he was singing the most awful cantonese pop music. his voice was too punchy and gave one a headache.
art shop by night. i liked the portrait above the guys head bending down. this shop was stuck in between two very loud bars so forgive him if he looks fed up.
the 'temple' at the top of the mountain between old and new li jiang. this was built in 1997 and is an extravagant gift shop. we only saw a couple of other people up here.
there were hundreds, possibly thousands of these wooden tokens hanging along the paths up to the temple. they made a gentle sound much like a wind chime in the breeze.
